Ho voluto andare or Sono voluto andare?

basic principle:
selection of the auxiliary depends on the auxiliary the main verb takes.

Study the following examples:

with reflexive verbs there are two possibilities:

essere

a) Mi sono voluta alzare (the pronoun precedes the auxiliary)

avere

b) Ho voluto alzarmi (the pronoun is attached to the infinitive of the main verb - in this case, the final -e of the infinitive is dropped)
